Bayreuth International Summer School (BISS) 2018 - Review
23th August 2018
We were very happy to welcome a large group of “25 Australians” at the Bayreuth International Summer School (BISS) 2018.
As a short retrospect some facts and figures to the BISS 2018:
- The BISS hosted 104 participants and 40 researchers from more than 20 different countries. This was an all-time record!
- With 42 participants - thereof 18 network students from Australia - the Polymer Science course was fully booked.
- In addition to the BISS the network organized
- 2 Melbourne-Bayreuth Lectures held by Prof. Dr. Paul Mulvaney (Not All that’s Gold Glitter - International Lounge+) and AProf. Dr. Andrea O’Connor (Biomaterials and Biofabrication for soft tissue engineering -SFB TRR 225 with a video streaming to the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and University of Würzburg),
- ~4 lab-tours (Key-Lab Tour, AFM-Lab Tour, Group Lab-Tours),
- 16 Meetings between Researchers,
- a Board-Meeting and
- an AFM-Workshop with Georg Papastavrou’s Group.
- Social events in addition to the BISS dinner events were two very good attended networking evenings to stimulate talks about research and cooperation options (~50 participants).
- Leisure time at the weekends could be enjoyed at the city festival (Bürgerfest) of Bayreuth and on a two-day excursion to Munich.
A short video will give you a lively impression of the BISS 2018 and some statements of participants and network members.
We hope that there will also be a group of Australians at the BISS 2019.
Please save the date: 1st-12th July 2019!
