Post-Doc Positions offered for a Polymer Chemist and a Specialist for Polymer Formulation and 3D Bioprinting
14.01.2019
The Department for Functional Materials in Medicine and Dentistry (fmz) at the University of Würzburg, Germany, is a material research institute with focus on the development of materials for biological and biomedical applications. Therefore, an interdisciplinary and international team of researchers works on the development of new materials and technologies, with a focus on the development of tissue models, tissue regeneration and biofabrication using the developed new materials and methods. For this, polymers are synthesized, characterized and optimized as materials basis especially as precursors and
building blocks for hydrogels as coatings, colloids, bulk materials and shear thinning formulations, in close cooperation with the KeyLab “Polymers for Medicine” of the Bavarian Polymer Institute.
The fmz research is financed by third party funding agencies at highest level, like the European Research Council (ERC), the German Research Foundation (DFG), and the European Union (EU). Since January 2018, a large transregional collaborative research center with 18 projects and almost 40 PhD students on the topic “From the Fundamentals of Biofabrication to Functional Tissue Models” is funded by the DFG. Research is performed in close collaboration with two University Hospitals and three Universities in the North of Bavaria (Bayreuth, Erlangen-Nuremberg and Wuerzburg).
The fmz aims at cutting-edge research at the forefront of biomaterials development, and is constantly publishing studies in the top journals of the field. The fmz and its researachers are very well interlinked with the national and international communities and offer state-of-the-art infrastructure for polymer synthesis and characterization as well as small scale polymer processing and analysis of the prepared biomaterials.
To strengthen the polymer research within the department the fmz is inviting applications for two positions:
- Scientific Postdoc “Polymer Synthesis / Hydrogels” (m/f)
in the field of polymer synthesis and polymer characterization for the development of hydrogels.- Scientific Postdoc “Bioink Development” (m/f)
in the field of bioink formulation and development.
If you are interested you will find more detailed information here and on the fmz website.
Be aware that application closes on February 28, 2019.
